Caroline joined the Royal Navy in 2005 as an Engineering Training Management officer and is currently based at HMS Sultan. A warm water (pool) swimmer since 11 years of age, she trained hard and represented Great Britain in Junior, then Senior teams all over the world, including at European and World Championships.
Her Introduction to open water swimming was the Portsmouth pier to pier race whilst training for the 400 m. and 800 m. freestyle distances. She decided to retire from competitive swimming in 2003 to concentrate on her degree studies and following graduation, worked for QinetiQ in Portsmouth.
Since joining the Navy, she has represented the Navy and Combined Services swimming teams at several events and began open water swimming with the Navy earlier this year with the Open Water Acclimatisation Course in Portsmouth, then the Lake Bala Inter-Services Open Water Championships in June.
