Shona’s job involves maintaining the Royal Air Force’s fleet of Hercules aircraft.

As a member of the RAF swimming team for the last four years Shona has enjoyed competing for her Service. She’s been competing in Open Water swimming for the last three years.

Shona Cowan, 22, has been employed on 47/LXX Engineering Squadron at RAF Lyneham as a Senior Aircraft Engineer for more than 5 years.

Shona has been training hard towards this Channel challenge. She met swimmers from the Navy and Army when she joined them on the 4 day Open Water Acclimatisation Course in Portsmouth.

Shona joined her team mates at the Lake Bala Inter-Services Open Water Championships in June.

Shona is working hard during her three pool training and three circuit training sessions per week.
