Steve has a 12 year old son who he says is as mad as himself and probably fitter and faster than him now (sssshhhhh - Steve doesn’t want him to know!).

He enjoys most sport including cricket and cycling but his major focus is swimming - which he’s competed in since childhood. His girlfriend has also caught the open water swimming bug and went with him to Bala this year successfully completing the short course - yep the pair of them must be mad!

This Channel challenge is going some way to taking his mind of a knee operation later in the year. He would love to come back next year to go for the solo - as long as this doesn’t put him off!

Steve’s ‘other’ love is motorcycling and he’s recently bought the bike of his dreams - and survived a track day on it - but did manage to scrape the exhaust going round the bends.

When not riding himself, Steve loves to go to the British Superbike events, dragging his son and often his friends camping for the weekend at the circuits. But Steve’s idea of camping includes all mod cons and a generator for all of lifes little essentials!

Steve at Lake Bala this year - trying to look cool rather than cold!

Next one is Mallory Park, see you there!

This is Steve’s bird... his Honda Blackbird!
